Painted in 1984, the single signed limited edition was issued by the Fine Art Trade Guild and published by Solomon & Whitehead (Guild Prints) Ltd. of Shenstone, Staffs. in 1985.

Rare to find Hand Signed Print, numbered limited edition of 850, of which this is number 178.

Excuse my photos, the print is in great condition, framed in a contemporary Metal frame in good condition.

Description:A fine animal portrait, pastel on artist's paper, signed "Marjorie Cox", and dated 1984 and framed - approx 23 X 18 inches (58.42 X 45.72cm).This is a fine English School pastel dating from the late 20th Century period. The animal portrait depicts a delightful study of a German Shepherd Alsatian dog. This loyal and faithful friend "Gunther" has the classic looks of this beautiful breed with his long pointed nose, pricked ears and black and tan coat. The artist has captured the character of this wonderful companion beautifully with sparkling amber eyes and black shiny nose.The work is signed "Marjorie Cox" lower right. Date:1984 Artist Biography: Marjorie Cox (British 1915 - 2003) was born in 1915 and left school in her mid teens. She enrolled at Miss Beatrice Flower's Art School and also attended Heatherley's Art School in London. She sold her first picture while still at school. She is one of the most prolific artists to have worked in this country and is a celebrated animal portraitist, particularly of canine subjects, in her own inimitable style. She was an old school artist and moved around the country with little but her sketch pad and a couple of boxes of pastels. She did not drive and, therefore, waited until she had a quantity of commissions in a certain area, travelled to a central location in that area and was transported from one client to another by her clients themselves. In the 1930's she also worked for Raphael Tuck, the greetings cards manufacturer. Her patrons included Lady Southwell, Lady Tavistock, Peter Dimmock, Phil Drabble and Nancy Fenwick, who looked after the Queen's dogs. She painted seven of the Queen's dogs for Mrs. Fenwick, corgis, dachschunds and a 'dorgi'. Her work is always clearly signed, dated and inscribed, usually with the pet name of the subject. She sadly died in 2003. Framing:Contemporary plain moulded Wood. Finish: Over-painted in white. Condition:The pastel is generally in good condition. The top right hand corner (as viewed) appears to have suffered from damp and some period and is a little wrinkled. There are a few minor marks where some of the thick pastel has flaked, otherwise the painting would probably benefit from being reframed. A beautiful portrait for any dog lover by this much collected artist. All art work for Colour on Canvas is created by Yorkshire Artist, Kerry Bowler. Each individual canvas is original (no two pieces are ever exactly the same) and fully hand-painted. The quality therefore is so much highter than that of canvas prints and yet the prices charged are similar.

Premium quality acrylics and other materials are used. Paint is always continued around the sides and a non yellowing artists glaze is applied as a final touch for enhancement and protection.

Boxed canvases are always used i.e - Canvases whereby the canvas fabric is stretched over a wooden frame. This means that all canvases are ready to hang when you receive them!

All canvases are signed and dated on the reverse. Most are initaled with 'KB' on the front too. If the canvases could be hung any way up, the side will be initialled.

Kerry is a married mum of 3 children, living near Skipton, the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.

Following a further education in art and design, Kerry has been working as a professional artist for 3 years now.

"For as long as I can remember, I have always loved to paint or do anything creative.

I get inspiration for my paintings from anything and everything I see, whether it be beautiful countryside, coastal scenery, flowers or everyday objects. I also find that eeach piece gives me new ideas and inspiration for the next.

This is my auction for a beautiful fine art pencil drawing of male nude model Michael. I really enjoy drawing the subtleties of shade in the human form. This would make a great addition or start to any art collection.

The photographs don't do my drawings justice as my photography is, unfortunately, not upto the standard of my drawing. In the unlikely event you aren't happy when you receive the drawing you can return it.

Born, raised and currently living in the north east of England, I'm an professional artist specialising in pencil drawings of wildlife, people and pets.

I've always loved drawing and been impressed by the patience, skill and time needed to create realistic intepretations.

I've just had my first exhibition in the Lounge Gallery at the Darlington Arts Centre. The exhibition, titled 'The Beauty of Beasts' was described as the most successful and well attended in recent memory, selling nearly £1500 worth of drawings. It has attracted great reviews and a double page spread in a major regional newspaper (The Northern Echo). I was recently Artist of the Week at Pencils.com

Drawings are dispatched backed onto a sheet of thin but sturdy wood (hardboard/MDF) and covered with a sheet of cellophane to further protect the drawing. The drawing then has a further sheet of wood placed over it so there is no chance of damage in transit. To finish the package, it is wrapped in traditional brown parcel paper and a printed address label attached.All drawings are sent via recorded delivery (UK) or tracked wherever possible.

All my drawings also now come with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed and stamped by myself to keep with the artwork.

All Jonnys works are drawn using Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils on either Daler Rowney Bristol Board (250 gsm) or Fabriano Accademia drawing paper (200 gsm) Both papers are heavyweight, acid-free, age resistant and the premium papers for drawing out there. Ogburn", and dated '87 for 1987 and framed - approx 42 X 33 inches (106.68 X 83.82cm).This is an exquisite Australian Modernist charcoal dating from the late 20th Century period. The nude depicts a stunning contemporary image from Austrilian artist John Ogburn. The work bears a label, verso, for "Agnew's Fine Art Dealers, Old Bond Street, London" and titled "Upright Nude 1987". The model sits in a wicker can chair. Her hair is swept up and braided revealing the features of her face as she sits, relaxed revealing the slim form of her torso and bare breasts. A rare opportunity to acquire an original piece by the "Veteran Australian artist represented in numerous public collections".The work is signed and dated lower left - "J. Ogburn", '87 for 1987 for "John Ogburn". Date: Artist Biography: John Ogburn (Australian) - 1925 - 2010 - Born in St Arnaud, Victoria in 1925, Ogburn worked for Shell Co. in Melbourne as an industrial research chemist between 1944 and 1946. During that time he became what he called a "Sunday painter" in oils and watercolours, and did Life drawing at the Victorian Artists Society studio. In 1946 he "realised that the life of an industrial chemist ignored, by-passed, or denied those very things in life most valuable to me”, so he bought a scooter and travelled to Northern Queensland, where he worked in the sugarcane fields and on pearling luggers and timber boats off Cairns and Cooktown. After returning to Sydney in 1948, he worked for the Sydney Morning Herald as a freelance science correspondent, while studying under the painter Desiderius Orban and the philosopher Austin Woodbury. Following his first one-man exhibition at the Macquarie Galleries in 1953, Ogburn sailed to Europe, hitch-hiking, working, and studying in museums and galleries. On returning in 1957, he conducted an art teaching studio in Sydney, and was Vice President of the Contemporary Art Society from 1957-1962. In 1963 he opened the John Ogburn Studio of painting and drawing in Lower George Street Sydney, moving to Harrington Street, The Rocks, in 1972. In 1973 he founded the Harrington Street Artists' Co-operative Gallery, where he held a one-man exhibition annually, until his final exhibition in October 2009, a few months before his death. Although not widely known in Australia, John Ogburn received acclaim and admiration from art critics such as Clement Greenberg. The legacy he leaves is integral to modern art, in Greenberg's words, 'I gathered that he wasn’t widely accepted in Australia - because he wasn’t 'new' enough, 'far out' enough. Description:An excellent portrait pastel on artist's paper, signed "Tytler" and dating circa late 20th Century. Framed - approx 18 X 16 inches (45.72 X 40.64cm).This is an excellent British School pastel dating from the late 20th Century period. The portrait depicts a fabulous study of the artist "John S. Sargent" as titled verso. John Singer Sargent (January 12, 1856 - April 14, 1925) was the most successful portrait painter of his era, as well as a gifted landscape painter and watercolorist. Sargent was born in Florence, Italy to American parents. This stunning pasted depicts the Master standing in a meadow, light cascading down onto the thick summer grasses. He stands, in summer attire, wearing a straw boater, at his canvas, palette in one hand and brush in the other. The pastel forms one of many Edwardian themed genre studies by artist James Tytler, many of his works having been reproduced in the form of Limited Edition Prints.The work is signed "Tytler" lower right for "James A. Tytler". Date:The pastel probably dates to around late 20th Century. Artist Biography: James Tytler was born in 1948 in Aberdeen. From an early age James developed a keen interest in painting which encouraged him to study at Greys School of Art in Aberdeen. After graduating James taught art and design to secondary school students around the country. In 1978 James left teaching to pursue his ambition to become a full time artist.. Having experimented with several techniques James soon specialised in the soft medium of pastels, paying great attention to colour and light. James has been influenced by the subjects and styles of great Victorian painters, with his home city having a particularly fine selection of Pre-Raphaelite and Glasgow School paintings. James Tytler's images in pastel draw us into the nostalgia of childhood fun and games and lazy summer afternoons. And these gentle countryside studies with their warm pastel hues perfectly complement an already outstanding collection. More recently James has again started painting images of the South ofFrance and Provence in oils and acrylic. In contrast to his pastels his latest pieces are full of strong vibrant colours and in addition, his new abstract work on canvas and panel is becoming very collectable. Having exhibited in numerous galleries throughout Europe and more recently in America - James Tytler has an enviable and well deserved reputation and a strong following among collectors. How to order a cartoon…

1. contact me via the “Ask a Question” link on this page, and tell me what sort of cartoon you’d like. Give me as much information on the subject as possible ( more information = a better cartoon), making sure you provide me with an email address I can contact you with (any information given is treated in the strictest confidence)…

2. Once I have the information, I’ll produce a draft version of the cartoon for your approval. At this point, we can make any required changes or additions needed. We do this any many times as required, until you are happy with the draft…

3. When we are both happy, place an order using the “BUY IT NOW” button. You can pay immediately, or wait for me to generate an invoice. Any changes to the price will be reflected in the seller discounts / changes section.

Average time for the process is 7-10 days, depending on the type of cartoon produced (traditional media cartoons may take longer).

Once payment is received I will send you the cartoon via recorded delivery (well packaged), or I can email you a high resolution digital version instead, saving you postage & packing (just select “Other Courier” at checkout).
