Description.

On offer here is a wonderful pastel picture of ernest broadbent dating
from the mid 20th century circa 1974.

Here
we have a wonderful kitsch
picture of the organist Ernest Broadbent who played the world famous
Wurlitzer at Blackpool Tower in the 1970's. Here he is sat at the large
organ. Presumably this portrait was taken from a photo and then given
to the musician at a later date. The plaque at the bottom on the frame
says "Presented to Ernest Broadbent, December 1974". A lovely piece in
a good solid frame. Signed to bottom left D. Humphrey 74.

Condition.

In
good condition commensurate
with age there are some minor knocks and nicks to the frame, some sign
of old inert wormhole to frame top, no foxing to glaze, the image
itself undamaged and in good condition, still in same frame from first
use. Ready to hang.

This original pastel drawing of a brilliant looking VW camper van with a split windscreen is by Freda Dennison. Freda has been producing work for many years now. Her favourite medium is pastel.

Please forgive the photograhpy - we could not take a better photo of it and the sides honestly are straight, not as they appear in the photo!

The drawing is on good quality paper, measuring 285mm x 210mm. Fixative spray has been applied so there will be no smudging. It has been signed and dated by Freda. It is offered for sale unframed.

Thanks for looking and we hope you enjoy it if you decide to buy!

This is an original pastel artwork, by G.J.Edwards, dated 1975. It was given to me as a gift some years ago, but I have now outgrown my it, and would love someone else to enjoy it. It depicts the late James Dean in Iconic pose, wearing his much recognised bomber jacket. The pastel is done on black paper , with a black mount, with a very simple old gold frame. The dimensions are as follows - width 22inches, height 27.5 inches, this includes the mount and the frame.

This is a 2008 portrait by Frank McFadden.

One of his works experimenting with light using a mixture of vibrant coloured pastels

48cm x 62cm Unframed

80cm x 60cm Framed

The pastel drawing will come framed as above

From the Glasgow area of Maryhill, Frank McFadden is a protégée of Peter
Howson. A former sign-writer and graphic designer, just a few years ago he was
addicted to drugs and selling The Big Issue. The older painter, who has also had
his problems with addiction, met McFadden by chance in a café on Great Western
Road. Howson took him under his wing, employing him as a studio assistant and
helping McFadden develop his own artistic ability and personal strength.
McFadden says that ‘Peter helped me to believe that I had a future’, and his
wish to be a better father to his young daughter spurred him on to create a new
life for himself. Howson and McFadden now share a studio in Glasgow’s city
centre, and exhibit together in Glasgow and New York. As McFadden’s fame grows,
he is building a list of celebrity patrons, including Jessica Simpson and Dawn
French.Like many other painters, McFadden uses the canvas to work out
his own personal demons. The figures in his paintings and pastels are, like
Howson’s, the dispossessed of society. The pain of people’s lives is put on
display through contorted poses, hard lines and luminous colours. Howson says,
‘I found Frank’s work unbelievable. I think he could be one of the great British
artists but it will take another five to ten years.’

Below is a link to some of Franks works

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooQxyyEB2G8

The pastel is in good condition, drawn on sand coloured pastel paper and signed in pencil, bottom right. There was a label on the back of the frame which I have detailed in the additional photos, but was unable to remove from the back of the frame (basic printed label with address). Drawing to be posted without the frame, in a tube for safe transit. There is some tape on the back of the paper from previous framing.
