A fabulous lovely old horse painting , oil on canvas , signed Florence B...? 1900?.

Recently restored and cleaned using museum quality paints . looks like it could be in its original wooden frame( some `nibbles ` around the edges of the frame).

This looks to have been painted by an accomplishesd artist, as the detail and stance of the horse has been captured beautifully.

Measures 890mm x 700mm overall , 700mm x 510mm visible.

William Cruickshank RA, RBA (1848 - 1922) - was born in about 1848 in Loughborough, Leicestershire. He lived in London and exhibited from 1866 to 1879 at such venues as the Royal Academy and the Suffolk Street Gallery of the Society of British Artists. For example, he resided in Camberwell with his wife Harriet in 1881, and had moved to Camberwell Green by 1901. Before this he was known to paint still life, portraits , landscapes and nature morte in America and Canada. In America there are records of his paintings in the states of Kansas , Ontario and Missouri. He was also painting all over Canada in his earlier artistic history. Many of his paintings are in Museums in these countries as well as England. His typical paintings are watercolour studies of still life, most commonly of birds nests, eggs, or fruit on mossy banks. Sometimes his pictures are drawn within an oval mount or frame, and are small and finely detailed. Although he is also known in America and Canada for painting landscapes and portraits. He was a follower of well known artist W. Henry Hunt, whose still life pictures are very similar. Description:A fine Venetian scene watercolour on artist's paper, signed "W.A. Earp" and dating circa 1900. Framed - approx 12 X 14 inches (30.48 X 35.56cm).This is a fine English School watercolour dating from the Victorian period. The Venetian scene depicts a stunning view of the sun setting over the ancient Italian city. Gondolas glide across the glass like waters. Steps lead down surrounded by white rendered buildings with terracotta roofs. Beautifully painted with fine detailing and highlighted in bodycolour.The work is signed "W.A. Earp" lower right. Date:The watercolour probably dates to around 1900. Artist Biography: W.A. Earp (British Fl. 1880 - 1900) - The Earp's were a prolific family of artists during the 19th Century - too many to mention here, however there is no doubting the talent than ran through the family during the Victorian era. This particular member of the Earp family appeared to have favoured maritime and coastal scenes. Framing:Later plain moulded Pine. Finish: Gilt.The watercolour is mounted on board and has a off-white mount. Condition:The painting is in excellent condition for its age, retaining good colour. There is a very slight 'rippling' to the artist's paper, beneath the glass, of no consequence but worth mentioning. Description:A fine portrait oil on artist's canvas dating circa 1880 - 1900, unframed - approx 30 X 25 inches (76.2 X 63.5cm).This is a fine English School oil dating from the Victorian period. The portrait depicts a classic late 19th Century Victorian period study of an affluent gentleman, possible a lawyer, barrister, politician or land owner. As was fashionable in Victorian times, wealthy families would often have their portraits painted as a sign of their position or standing is society. On a dark ground the gent sigs in a chair. He wears a large black overcoat, matkching waistcoat, white shirt and bow tie. He looks directly at the viewer, his hair swept from his forehead and sporting fashionable side burns. The artist has captured the features of this middle aged gent wonderfully with great use of light and shade. A classic portrait from the Victorian period. Date:The oil probably dates to around 1880 - 1900. Framing: NoneThe oil is mounted on a stretcher. Condition:The painting has suffered some damage. There are some white flecks on the canvas, light blooming across the lower third with an amount of flaking to the lower section. There are a couple of repairs, most significantly to the left side of his head (as viewed) where the canvas has been patched due to an old hole. Nevertheless, a good example of a 19th Century portrait. A superb original 19th century victorian oil portrait painting of a distinguished gentleman in forma wear.

Framed - approx 12 X 15 inches (30.48 X 38.1cm).This is an excellent English School watercolour dating from the Victorian period. The maritime scene depicts a beautiful English Impressionist study of boats and sailing ships at port. As the sun set golden hues are cast across the clouded sky, reflecting in the water. Highlighted in bodycolour give a crispness to the composition with the most delicate of detailing to the vessels featured in this 19th Century port.The work is signed "W.A. Earp" lower right. Date:The watercolour probably dates to around 1900. Artist Biography: W.A. Earp (British Fl. 1880 - 1900) - The Earp's were a prolific family of artists during the 19th Century - too many to mention here, however there is no doubting the talent than ran through the family during the Victorian era. This particular member of the Earp family appeared to have favoured maritime and coastal scenes. Framing:Later plain moulded Pine. Finish: Mahogany.The watercolour is mounted on board and has a brown mount. Condition:The painting is in excellent condition for its age, retaining good colour. Beautiful original antique oil on canvas painting by French artist E Guilleux. The painting is of a large vessel in the center with smaller vessels in the background perhaps portraying the imagery of a battle just one. There appears to be gun powder smoke coming from the vessels themselves. The scene is surrounded by clouds which blend with the smoke from the large ships and the waves of the sea. The detail is really exquisite - please see the pictures. The canvas is in very good condition and has been professionally cleaned, making the colours even more vivid.

The canvas is mounted on wood, so can be easily framed if desired - but this has never been framed and looks good when hung unframed. The canvas size is approx, height 60cm x width 90cm (24" x 36").

FRAMED in carved wood frame

This is an original oil painting on its original canvas and stretcher, dating from the turn of the 19th/20th Century . The scene is painted by Joseph Percy Rendell, a British artist working at the end of the 19th Century into the early 20th Century. He painted many scenes in and around the Home counties in England.

This is a lovely example of his work, depicting one of the old mills on the River Wandle in the North Downs. It is signed lower right. There is also a label on the reverse (which covers an even older label), giving details of a sale of the painting in the early 20th Century.

The painting has recently been minimally restored, cleaned and revarnished. It is in very good conditon framed in a beautiful old distressed carved wood frame.s Pryce (1866 - 1949) - exhibited two oil paintings at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Pryce was listed as living in Birmingham in 1885. He was a painter known for his attention to detail. He was a member of the Royal Society of Artists and the Royal Watercolour Society. George Willis Pryce (1866 - 1949) - exhibited two oil paintings at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Pryce was listed as living in Birmingham in 1885. He was a painter known for his attention to detail. On offer here is a beautiful oil on board painting from the Victorian period of the 19th century.

Here we have a lovely oil on board painting in a gilt frame signed to bottom by W. Collins. The scene is a classic image of a waterfall and rolling forested hills. A lovely piece.

Condition.

In good condition commensurate with age, please do not expect this item to be as new, the gilt frame is damaged with chips and cracks to paint, but the image itself is fine.
