It is signed by the artist and is offered in good used condition and is displayed in its origional frame under glass.

The date of the Art Work is not known but it is thought to date from the late 20th century.

This is a wonderful Original Oil Painting by David Rylance.

Rylance was born in Wigan, Lancashire in 1961. He studied painting and illustration at Wigan School of Art and attained a National Diploma in both subjects. He initially worked as an illustrator for various companies as well as working as an interior designer. In the late 1970's he moved to Spain to paint full time, he moved back to the UK in the 1980's to live in Cornwall. He has exhibited regularly and his work can be found in many private collections in the UK, Spain and America.

The painting is not signed.

Provenance: This painting was purchased as part of a collection of David Rylance's works from a fine art auction in Cornwall, we have other paintings by Rylance for sale, some of which are signed.

The picture is not framed.

Approximately 10" by 8".

In good condition.

Please Note: This painting proved quite difficult to photograph, as a result the colours may appear slightly differently.

WOODLAND SCENE

Barry Mason was born in 1952. He studied fine art at the University of Reading (1970-74), the Slade School of Fine Art, University of London (1974-76) and Bath Technical College (1980-81), where he gained the City and Guilds advanced craft award in stone-masonry. He served on the executive committee of the Fountain Society from 1970 to 1974, and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1998.

Mason has exhibited since 1979. He had a solo show at the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1987 and has featured in many group exhibitions throughout Britain. He works to commission, making sculptures, some of which include water, with his guiding philosophy being that the idea behind the work is paramount and the methods and materials chosen to express that idea should be the best available. Major commissions include Helios XVI for Peterborough Development Corporation (1987); The Edward Jenner Garden at Gloucester Royal Hospital (1993); Imaeus for Welsh Water, Cardiff (1998); Half Moon for Eton College (1999); and Oculus, which was made while sculptor in residence at Hailes Abbey, Gloucestershire (2000).

Sources for his sculpture have changed and evolved over the years. In the 1970s he pursued an interest in landscape, producing monumental constructions in steel and timber, often incorporating earthworks. Throughout the 1980s he developed ideas derived from sun paths and shadow in pieces that were made mostly in stone. Using the skills he acquired during his City and Guilds training as a mason, he also worked as a carver and conservator. Towards the end of the 1980s Mason began to introduce water as a vital element in his stone sculpture. He gradually incorporated further materials into his repertoire - copper, bronze and stainless steel, which he also used with water. In recent years he has begun to experiment with patterns of holes cut into sheet metal with industrial lasers, giving this work a degree of accuracy beyond the capability of even the most skilled hand. This has led to a series of sculptures in which solidity and mass are challenged by light. The transience of shadows, light passing through water, cultural icons expressed through architecture and art, the conflict of instinct and emotion, the loss of magic and ritual to logic, identifying with mankind's continuing search for finite means to capture infinite concepts - these are the issues which have come to dominate Barry Mason's art.

Derek Windsor

Derek gained his B.A. honours’ degree at Farnham Art College in 1993. He quickly began a diverse career in animated film making where he won an international prize. After illustrating and animating in London he moved into computer game design. Success was to follow him at Codemasters Ltd with a number one hit game and other AAA publications for the Sony Play Station. He then travelled extensively around the world for a number of years. Derek wanted to always be free to work on a broad variety of projects and found painting to be a favourite medium. He has been established now for over seven years as a painter with exhibitions locally and in Brecon, where his paintings have covered a number of subjects from Jazz to Park Life. His latest achievement was setting up the Maerdy Arts Society and organizing demonstrations and exhibitions within the Rhondda Valleys.

Description:A fine abstract mixed media / acrylic on artist's board dating 1984, unframed - approx 48 X 66 inches (121.92 X 167.64cm).This is a fine English Modernist mixed media / acrylic dating from the late 20th Century period. The abstract depicts a very large and impressive view through the window of a London butcher's shop. Vivid blue hues form the ground of this extraordinary painting, geometric shapes building to form an interesting composition. Large ham hocks lie on the window sill. The butcher, in his white overalls, appears to be cleaning up ready to shut shop. Sausages hang from the rack above, a meat slicer on the bench below. In the background are the extensive buildings forming the waterfront on the River Thames, moonlight reflecting on the water below with the shadow of the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral rising in the darkened sky. A really fabulous, unique and interesting piece - ideal for a contemporary butcher's shop or interior designer's piece. Monogrammed "PC" for "Peter Curran" to the lower right. Description:A fine coastal scene, oil on artist's board, signed "A. Young", and dated December 1980 and framed - approx 21 X 26 inches (53.34 X 66.04cm).This is a fine English School oil dating from the late 20th Century period. The coastal scene depicts a fabulous sunset titled, verso, "Sunset over Loch Na Lathaich, Isle of Mull" high up in the Scottish Highlands. As the golden sun sets the volcanic coastline falls into silhouette, the golden hues reflected on the water with two fishing boats sailing on the glistening waters.The work is signed "A. Young" lower right. Date:The oil probably dates to around 1980s. Framing:Contemporary classic scroll and floral moulded Gesso work. Finish: Gilt. Condition:The painting is generally in good condition. There are a couple of small abrasions and scratch marks to the right hand side (as viewed) otherwise ready to hang. A Welsh landscape scene by Arthur Hudson. It is painted using heavy impasto techniques, mostly done with a palette knife, and relatively little brushwork. This painting has a more naive look than most of his other work. The picture is on hardboard and will need framing. There are slight variations in the dimensions of up to 6mm, but this will not be a problem for a professional framer. It is signed on a label on the reverse. It is varnished and ready for framing. The varnish is quite glossy, which will reduce over time, but initially it will need sympathetic lighting.
