This is a rare original Gerald Park canvas, measuring 44 x 60 inches (112 x 152 cm), titled 'Four Small Stones' one of two versions made of the same size. The second version, made at a later date, was executed in acrylic. This original is in oil, and bears the gallery label of the famous New Art Centre, then located on London's Sloane Street and now arguably the foremost sculpture gallery in the UK. Park's paintings, including ones made as part of a series including this one, are owned by the Government Art Collection and various national municipal galleries.Provenance: This painting last came up for major auction in 1998, at the November 11 auction at Christie's South Kensington (Lot 130), then estimated at £500 - £700, although it has since then been acquired privately.Condition: There are minor scuff marks to the edge of the canvas, and a couple of small, shallow dents. Stretching the canvas slightly would correct this, something I don't mind doing on request. The colour is still vivid. This is an opportunity to acquire a great work by an English artist, that it's a shame wasn't more prolific. I simply haven't the space for such a large canvas.View other works of Park's here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/artists/gerald-park/paintings/slideshow#/5Please don't hesitate to contact me for further information. Collection is from London, Zone 1.

John Arthur Evans - Oil Painting of a Half Timbered House

John Arthur Evans - An oil painting on wooden board of a half timbered house. Inscribed on the back John Arthur Evans 1890. Size: 17 x 25cm (6.7" x 9.8")

Click an image below to see it full-size

We have recently changed our name from Bills Pics to Sulis Fine Art in conjuction with the launch of our website with the same name. Look us up on Google!

Please pay promptly. We prefer PayPal. If you pay by personal cheque, there will be a delay of about two weeks before your goods can be despatched so do not use this option if you are in any hurry at all. Similarly, eCheques take forever to clear, so be prepared for a long wait. If you are collecting in person, then cash on collection would be preferred. International payments must be PayPal only. No other form of payment can be accepted.

For overseas shipping, if the postage charge says £999.99, please contact us for a correct courier shipping cost for your country

Ignore what it says anywhere else on this listing. Full insurance is included in the shipping charge. There is a glitch in the program which might cause it to say insurance not offered.

Shipping to Northern Ireland, Offshore Islands, Channel Islands and some remote areas costs more in many cases. Please do not pay until you receive an invoicee. If in doubt, please enquire before bidding. We will always combine shipping where possible. There are usually substantial discounts for combined shipping. Sometimes for international shipping if combining the shipping will bring the weight over 2 kilograms then there is no savings. Please wait for or request an invoice if you buy more than one item.

95% of framed pictures (except the very small ones) are now being sent out in custom made cartons. These are extremely sturdy telescopic cartons that provide a level of protection virtually as good as a wooden crate. These are far superior to recycled cartons which usually have been weakened by prior use. The cost for each of these cartons is exactly £4.00 which must be passed on to the buyer. Since we have been using these cartons, there have been essentially no reports of damage in transit. From time to time we do stumble across a previously used carton which is as good as ours, and on occassions we do use them. For overseas shipments we often use alternative packing means to keep the weight under 2kg. Usually this means about 20 layers of bubble wrap (which is very light) and very little cardboard.

Full insurance is included in the postage and packing charge. No carrier will insure against damage to artwork or antiques so we provide this insurance ourselves. There is a small amount included in the shipping charge for this.

Glass will be removed from all overseas shipments and all pieces of glass with either dimension greater than 45cm will be removed from UK shipments. Despite best packing efforts, the carriers manage to break larger pieces of glass with frustrating regularity. When we do ship small pictures with glass, we will often tape the glass with masking tape. If the glass seems particularly vulnerable, we will re-arrange the picture so the the backing board is between the glass and the painting, so that even if the glass breaks it will be unlikely to damage the painting. In this case it will be necessary to put the painting back in the proper position when it arrives. Unframed pictures will be sent rolled in a postal tube if appropriate.

We offer a money back no quibble guarantee. Please contact us within 7 days for return authorization. When the item is received within a further 7 days in the same condition as when it left arrived, your payment price will be refunded in the same manner as which it was paid. Carriage charges are not normally refundable unless fairness dictates otherwise. We try to be as reasonable as possible.

Everything we sell is used, and often is very old. In almost every case there will be damage of some kind, and usually some form of restoration and repair. This is considered normal with antique objects. We attempt to mention significant problems, and always include excellent images. You should rely upon your inspection of the images. No representations are implied about mounts and frames, unless specifically stated, and then they are just opinion. Authorship is similarly a matter of opinion. In the absence of a provenance, even a signed picture may be a forgery. Unless we have reason to suspect a forgery, which we will then mention, please assume that authorship is a matter of opinion. The exception would be if the listing says "guaranteed genuine"

Feedback: We use an automated feedback system. As soon as you leave positive feedback, you will receive positive feedback from us

We are a father and son team. Bill, the father, is based near Bradford on Avon and sources art and antiques in this affluent area. Dan is based in Newbury and covers the area West of London. We are committed to selling good quality art and antiques at a fair price. Most of our customers are dealers, and about half our sales go overseas. Although we welcome retail customers, our main business is repeat sales to the trade. We specialize in taking high quality images and promise fair and accurate descriptions to the best of our ability.

Images: Whenever possible, we use scans as we find they are the most accurate representation of the actual appearance of the item. For larger items, we supplement the scans with photographs.

A word about size: For pictures height is given before width. If only one size is given, it is the size of the actual picture without any border, mount or frame. All measurements are approximate to the nearest cm or so.

And a word about descriptions: we make mistakes; everyone does. If you catch an error, please let us know so we can change the listing.

original oil painting “calm sunset” signed

Artist Listed to £15,000 +

This auction is for an exquisitely executed antique oil painting
by the very sought after artist Daniel sherrin (1868-1940) which is signed in
the lower right hand corner.

'Daniel Sherrin was born in Brentford, Essex
in 1868, the son of John Sherrin R.I., also a well known flower and still life
painter and was the
father of R.D. Sherrin also an artist.

Sherrin studied under his father and
became a pupil of B.W. Leader, the well known landscape artist and a member of
the "Williams" family. Sherrin’s family moved to Ramsgate, Kent, when he was a young boy and his father died
there in 1896. He also lived for a while on the East
Coast of England near Whitstable and although primarily a landscape artist, he
also painted along the shores of Suffolk and Norfolk.

His greatest achievement was being commissioned
by King George V to paint Sandringham Estate and this painting still hangs in
Buckingham Palace.

His
paintings were sometimes used for book illustrations and engravings and a scene
entitled 'In the Highlands' can be seen in 'British Highways and Byways from a
Motor Car' by Thomas D. Murphy published in 1908.

The Imperial
War Museum in London also has material related to his work on the design of
recruiting posters for the First World War. One poster was successful in
recruiting over 1000 men which resulted in congratulations from Lord Kitchener.

However he
was most at home painting scenes of Southern England, especially
Surrey, Kent and Hampshire. His works perfectly capture the spirit of the
English landscape and he can therefore be considered a fine successor to
Constable.

Sherrin was always a practical joker for instance, One day whilst travelling back
home from London on the train, Sherrin got into a discussion with a fellow
passenger. Sherrin insisted that the train would stop at Seasalter where the
track passed his house. The passenger was adamant that this could not be the
case. This disagreement eventually was settled as a wager between the two men. Sherrin
bet £10 that the train would stop outside his house so that he could alight.
The passenger agreed and they shook hands on the deal.

As the train left the marshes heading
for Whitstable he watched in horror as Sherrin leapt up and pulled the
communication cord. The train screeched to a halt alongside Sherrin's garden at
which he got off, having relieved his new friend of the £10.

The fine in those days for malicious use of the cord was £5 which
Sherrin duly paid, giving his profit to the local hospital. I dare say that the
victim of this trick was very wary of making bets with anyone in the future.

Sherrin left the
nation, including the Royal Family, many excellent works of art which have been
listed to £15,000 + (please check the major auction houses). He died in Seasalter, near Whitstable, Kent on 26th January 1940 greatly
missed.

Please see the links below to previously sold Daniel Sherrin paintings:

ANNA JULIA PERTZ (1855-1928)Copy of a portrait by Thomas de Keyser (1596-1667)

A masterly 19th century copy of a de Keyser portrait full of character and Rembrandtesque in style. Anna Pertz was an accomplished portrait artist and went on to exhibit at the Royal Academy in 1889. An example of her work can also be found in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London.Whilst this painting is a copy, it has the look of a Dutch master without the associated condition and cost implications. It is by a known portrait artist and should be considered as a work of art in its own right.

CONDITIONThe painting is in good condition, behind glass and has some minor scuffs. The shadow on the left is a reflection on the glass. Presented in a stylistically complimentary lacquer frame with an old minor repair to the top left hand corner.

Artist: Juan Bandera
Pérez, Spanish, Malaga 1917 - Madrid 1999. I
have translated the following from a Spanish source.
He was a painter with great knowledge of the
classics, born in Casarabonela on June the 9th,
1917, when he was three years old he moved to
Malaga. When he was ten years old he started paid
drawing classes at the School of Arts and Crafts in
Malaga studying under Don Cesar Alvarez Dumont, who
seeing the skill of the child moved him to the upper
class in drawing and painting, with his parents
consent as the models posed nude.

At just 17 he
won first prize for painting in a group exhibition
of painters of Andalusia, organised by the
Association of Free Artists, exhibited at the Salon of Economic Malaga a work named 'Beggar' and
was also awarded another first price by the Association for a work
titled 'Backlit olives'. Following these awards he
was commissioned by the chair of Malaga Commercial
Circle to paint a large equestrian portrait of the
duke of Seville, Don Francisco de Borbon.

He moved to
Madrid where he studied at the School of San
Fernando, then held a solo exhibition in Bilbao
which sold out within five days. He lived in the
Basque Country for five years given the amount of
commissions he had. When he returned to Madrid he
was was commissioned to paint a portrait of Captain General
Saliquet. At this time he was alternating work and
study at the School of fine Arts in Madrid, but
tired of an eduction system that was slow and
limited he decided to leave, though continued to
study privately with the teacher and painter Don
Frederico Gil Bermudez.

Juan moved to
Paris where he decided to stay and met the painter
restorer Cabreras and ask for lesson from him in the
art of restoration. He would later say that he
learnt more in the workshop of Cabaras than all the
schools that he had been, as passed through his
hands the great masters from which he learnt the
same ways and techniques.

After his stay
in Paris he spent an few years in America and and in
1965 decided to move to Mexico and worked as a
portrait artist to major national and international
personalities. In 1987 he was visiting
Casarabonela again and was received great
admiration that his home town had him as a person
and artist. In 1988-1989 he returned to his village
to meet the Virgen de la Pastora more known as Our
Lady of Rondeles, thereafter returning to his people
on numerous occasions. In 1997 he was named
favourite son, but had to return to Mexico because
of family problems and due to various circumstances, the presentation event could not take place until May 1999, coinciding
with the day of the crosses. The event took place in
the Hall of Municipal Library, chaired by two
paintings that the artist donated to the town, a
Lady of the Rosary which is located in the
Baptistery of St. James Church and one of the Virgin
of Rondeles located in the Meeting Room of City
Hall. The tribute was attended by Mayor Pedro Rubio,
the Councillor for Culture Pilar del Rio, actor and
family of the painter Manuel Bandera, Peter Dobler
friend and connoisseur of his paintings as well as
hundreds of friends and neighbours of the painter.

Awards: include
the Rembrandt Chamber First Prize (Germany) in 1955.
Medal of Honor Michigan Northwood Institute in 1968.

Works of note:
The "Altar of the Mexican Revolution," a
masterpiece, the series consists of 70 canvases of
1.30 m. X 1m. Tall, all painted in oils with a
variety of bills, colours and rhythms, this series
took ten years 1975 -1985.
"Bull Fighting Anthology", 1963, this series
consists of 130 canvases of various formats, the
largest are 4x3m, the smallest are 1.30mx 1m.

"Columbus and the Discovery" 1990, this work was
made from his appointment as Official Artist of the
V Centenario in America and has 50 large paintings.

surreal, but rather magical, and even some still
life and abstract painting.

artwork
as
an

really is. If I sell a artwork as by a particular
artist, without a doubt it is guaranteed to be
original artwork by that artist. Where I list artwork
as by a follower or school of an artist, or from a

and shipped to me from a wholesale supplier. This
ensures I can use a lot of quality packaging materials
to protect your items and keep the handling costs
down.

All parcels are
covered with insurance at or above the value the item

Glazed

work load and at those times items may take longer. I
offer a Postal Guarantee to all buyers, that unless
stated otherwise in the listing, if I fail to post an
item within 5 working days of payment the postal costs
will be refunded in full (Excludes courier delivery
time).

Returns:

ascertained to be not as described collectively by
both the description and photographic images. I will
offer a full refund without question and pay the
return costs.

2. If the item arrives damaged on delivery. On
condition of being informed within 24 hours and
packaging retained, I will launch a claim with the

packaging remain in situ while claims are being
investigated. This process can take several weeks and
I can only accept return and offer a refund when the
Courier investigation is complete.

3. Most Buy It Now purchases are covered under the

of the purchase.

payment in person. Cheques must clear before posting.
Please advice of your chosen payment method within two
days of winning an item, or the item may be re-listed
and non payment lodged with eBay. Please make sure

eBay's protection programs, items can only be sent to
the address on the order details.

The following terms apply to all deliveries. The prices quoted are based on the terms described here. Please read them carefully. For any questions about deliveries please contact us.
1: Kerbside service. All deliveries are "kerbside" meaning customers are responsible for getting the items into their homes and, more importantly, up any stairs. We are often able to provide assistance in this regard, but we are not obliged (or insured) to do so. Deliveries are fulfiled by a single driver who will often require assistance to unload large items. We can arrange fully-managed deliveries and we are happy to supply quotes for that (as a guide it is usually around double the prices shown).2: Payment. All deliveries must be booked and paid for in advance, including payment for the item iteself. We use third-party carriers so delivery drivers cannot accept payment or give out receipts.3: Delivery times. Most London-postcode deliveries can be arranged within 5-7 working days. Beyond that delivery times vary from 7 to 28 days (some remote destinations may take longer). Deliveries normally arrive during the day and customers will need to make arrangements to receive their items. The day and time of the delivery is at the discretion of the carrier. Customers will receive at least 48 hours notice of delivery (more often than not 5-7 days).
In the unlikely event there is a problem we are always happy to resolve it. The best way to report a problem is to email us. We have a comprehensive refunds and returns policy:
1. 14-day no-quibble refund. In line with Distance Selling Regulations, if we ship an item to you within the EU, you can change your mind and be fully refunded for the item and outbound shipping costs. You must return the item to us in the condition sold, and within 14 days of receipt; the return postage is at your expense. Please contact us prior to making the return. This does not apply to items collected by you or your agent from our warehouse.2. Item lost or damaged in post. If we ship an item to you and it gets lost or damaged then we will replace it or refund the value of the item and postage. Most items are delivered within a few days, but sometimes there are delays. Please contact us if you have not received your item within two weeks of receiving our dispatch note. We may require you to sign a form to enable us to claim from the courier.3. Items significantly not as described. If the item materially differs from the photographs and listing description then we'll refund or exchange in line with your rights under Sale of Goods Act 1979. By material difference we mean a clear listing error, misrepresentation or fault which in our opinion materially affects the item's value. For items which are collected from the warehouse, we will ask you or your agent to check that there are no material differences prior to taking them away.4. Limited liability. Except as limited by statute, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the item and shipping.Payment MethodsCollectionsWe happily accept the following payment methods:
1. PayPal. We prefer PayPal. We do not pass on PayPal fees to customers. 2. Cheques or Postal Orders. Sterling cheques drawn on a UK bank account or UK postal orders made payable to "Stuff U Sell" and posted to our warehouse address (see Business Seller Information below). Please include details of the item you are paying for. 3. On collection. We accept payment on collection within 7 days of the auction ending.4. UK bank transfers (BACS, CHAPS or SWIFT). Please contact us for our bank details. 5. Banker's drafts. We accept sterling banker's drafts from a UK bank.
We do not accept any forms of payment other than those above.

Original Oil Painting By Sought after Artist Terry Evans

I was given this painting by a family member as they know how much I like art and I have collected paintings for many years. However, I have no where to hang it and with children running around it's going to get damaged unless I put it in the loft. I know these paintings are pretty sought after so it would be a shame to hide it away when someone could be enjoying it like my family have.

It is a large painting by the artist measuring approx 67 x 57cm including the frame, I have looked on various sites and this size seem to retail for approx £1600 although most of the artists work seems to sell pretty quick. The gilt frame is an antique style with a green inlay boarder. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition and comes from a smoke and pet free home.

The painting is signed lower right Evans. The painting is heavily painted and in places the paint leaves the canvas by almost 1cm.

For the size of the piece, I have offered this painting at a very low buy it now, but reluctantly it has to go so feel free to make me an offer. I will sell to the first reasonable offer. You are most welcome to come and view before you bid by contacting us, but please don't bid then ask to look before paying because it could be still up for sale.

Feel free to ask any questions and please have a look at my other items.

Many thanks

This original oil on canvas picture measures approx 84 cms by 58 cms within its wood frame as shown. It was painted by the Cornish artist Jack R Mould and signed bottom right. I think it features a scene in the Scottish countryside. It is painted in oils but with a raised relief style in places. There is a date on the back of 17-12-76. Now deceased, he is a reasonably well know artist who painted mainly in Cornwall and Scotland. It is too large and delicate to post so buyer collect only please with cash on collection.

Description:An excellent seascape acrylic on artist's board, signed "Russell Pond" and dating circa 2000. Framed - approx 19 X 23 inches (48.26 X 58.42cm).This is an excellent English Impressionist acrylic dating from the late 20th Century period. The seascape depicts a vibrantly painted study of waves surging on the rugged West Country coast. Full of action, a jagged rock rises from the deep blue waters, the rough sea rising in the background as a large wave breaks on the rocks, foam rising in the air like 'white horses'. Gulls fly above in the blue clouded sky. A wonderful study, full of colour and beautifully painted in classic impressionist form. The painting is titled verso "No.3 Storm Clearing, Morning". (Oil Russell Pond £200).The work is signed "Russell Pond" lower left.

Date:The acrylic probably dates to around 2000.
